Wedding related gifts
(Technically, etiquette-wise, these don't count as a gift if it's something you're requiring the girl's to wear, then it's just part of the attire):
We also helped cover a portion of the dress cost (since I had my heart set on the dresses, I wanted them to be a bit more affordable for the girls) and the girls makeup for the wedding (I actually came in under budget and since everyone wanted to get their makeup done, I decided to cover the cost).
Non-wedding related gifts:
(Technically, etiquette-wise, these don't count as a gift if it's something you're requiring the girl's to wear, then it's just part of the attire):
- Necklace/earring jewelry set (I made them. See DIY > Attire & Accessories)
- Brown pashmina scarf

Non-wedding related gifts:
- Maid of Honor: Burberry Perfume (since my sister is sooo picky, I let her choose)
- 3 BMs: Kate Spade wristlets (purchased from Kate Spade outlet)
- Sister-in-law: Since I knew she wouldn't use a wristlet, I got her a gift certificate to her favorite local boutique and also ended up getting her slippers too. She's obsessed with the fluffy Steve Madden slippers (she got 2 identical pairs last year and has worn out one pair already). So, when I came across the slippers at Nordstrom Rack, I decided to buy them as part of her gift.
GroomsmenSince most of Ben's groomsmen either travel alot or are really into music/concerts, Ben got each of them a handheld video recorder. (He bought them at Best Buy, but found them when they were on sale). They were a big hit!

Parents GiftsI wanted something small to give both of my parents at the rehearsal dinner. I decided on personalized handkerchiefs. I ordered them from "designsbyGloria" on etsy.com. $24 for 2, quick shipper and she even threw in a special item for me, a handkerchief that said "Hannah 10.16.10" on it.

Funny story about the growler...one of the local pizza places in Chicago is also a award winning brewery. On Sunday nights they offer a carryout special, 1 large pizza and a growler, for $25 (which is a $10+ savings). So we did the special one Sunday and brought home everything. I put the beer on the counter and told Ben to leave it alone (he was tempted to drink it). I was doing laundry in the bedroom and came out to the kitchen. I noticed beer all over the counter that the laptop was sitting on. At first I thought Ben had opened the beer and spilled it...then I realized the glass growler had broke!! It was a clean cut around the bottom. The strangest thing ever! Thus, Nate wound up with beer from a local QC brewer instead.

Ben/Groom's Gift
Like most things I do, I made up a theme. Ben's gifts followed a "For" theme. I got the general idea from another Knottie (Jacki) and adapted it for Ben. Everything then had a note attached to it, explaining it's significance
Socks...."For your (possibly) cold feet"
Other gifts not pictured here:
And last, but certainly not least:
Picture frame of us...."For...ever" |
Whiskey flask...."For your nerves"
Just Married undies...."For the Honeymoon ;o)" Mints...."For our first kiss" |
