Bridal Hoodies
My bridal hoodie: I had bought a pink tube dress (Gap Outlet, $10) to wear for getting ready and knowing that typically it's kind of cool mid-October, I decide to make a hoodie to wear with the dress.

Rhinestone Directions:
Another tip: if you have a more detailed/difficult design, print it out and place it under the hoodie. Lightly trace with pencil onto the hoodie. Then place your rhinestones on the pencil lines. As a thank you for doing my hair, I made Mallory a bridal hoodie as part of her gift! (Mallory is getting married September 2011). I followed the exact same directions as above but ordered her rhinestones off of ebay from seller friednerves (They're also a little smaller but were less expensive) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190435718207&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT and http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200314429385&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT I also jazzed up the front of Mal's hoodie by putting "Bride to Be" on a bow and attached the bow with a safety pin so that it can be removed and just say "Bride" later on. |
Bridesmaid JewelryI originally planned on buying the girls a jewelry set to wear for the wedding. I found a necklace on etsy.com that I loved but decided that it was so simple that I should try making it myself, thus I ended up making the girl's a necklace and earrings.
I order most of the supplies from jewelrysupply.com. I purchased a jewelry tool set from JoAnne (On sale for $5!) and 24 gauge wire from a local bead store Earring supplies:

Directions: I actually just searched on youtube for a video for "wire-wrapped briolettes" and adapted it to my pendants. It took some patience at first, but with practice, I actually got really good at this. Once I got going, it probably only took my about 3 minutes per pendant. For the pendant on the necklace, I opened the jump ring, put the pendant on it, and then closed it on the chain. |
The necklace below was my originaly inspiration for the BM jewelry. However, the seller wanted about $35 each and was not willing to give a discount. In the end, I'm happy I made my own necklaces because it was a fun project and something to be proud of! Plus, the total cost for one of my necklaces was less than $20!!
Pictures of necklace I made coming soonSimple drop pendant earrings. I actually made myself a pair for fun and have already worn them a few times.

HeadbandI knew I wanted to wear a headband, but bridal headbands typically start at $100 and go up from there. I couldn't fathom spending that much on an accessories that I'd like not be able to wear again.
After much searching and with some inspiration from the girls during my bachelorette weekend, I decided to make my own! I bought 2 headbands from Claires (costing a total of $19). I remove the rhinestone piece from the black headband by just sliding it off. The ivory headband had a flower on it that I simply cut off. I then slide the rhinestone piece on the ivory headband and used my hot-glue gun to keep it in place and viola! The perfect headpiece! |
Shoe ClipsWhile I loved my shoes after finding my dress, I decided that I wanted shoe clips to make them a bit more fun. I searched online and through my grandma's vintage jewelry without any luck.
Then I remember a pair of vintage earrings I had bought off of etsy.com from seller "MaryNotMartha" for $5.50. I had hoped to wear them, but when I got them in person, the pearl looked too fake to me. So, I used my wire tools from my jewelry to remove the pearl. There was still a holder on the rhinestone piece to attach the pearl, but by using my flatnosed pliers and bending it back and forth, I was able to break it off. I used some sandpaper to smooth over the edges. I purchased a package of clip-on earring backs from Michaels ($2.99) and adhered the rhinestone piece to the clip-on. Viola, my $8 shoe clips!! |
"Something Blue"For my something blue, I decide to add "I DO" rhinestones to the bottom of my shoes. I purchased 4mm Swavorski rhinestones from Michaels ($2.99 with 40% off coupon). I traced out "I DO" letters on the shoes with a pencil and used tweezer to place the rhinestones on the shoe with superglue.
However, superglue is very liquidy...if I were to redo this, I would have used E6000 glue or some type of glue that is more gel like. |
